Leicestershire & Rutland Youth Games

Qualifying Tournament

For the Borough of Hinckley & Bosworth.

Tuesday 10th June 2008

Four of our local Junior Schools battled it out at the Marstons Stadium in the June sunshine to claim a place in the Youth Games Girls Football Finals at Loughborough. The winning team will represent the Borough of Hinckley & Bosworth in the finals on Sunday 22nd June. A large following of parents were well entertained, with some exciting grassroots football on display.

 

The first round of matches kicked off on pitch two where Richmond Primary School defeated St.Peters (Earl Shilton) by   4-0. Moving to pitch one, and Burbage Junior School claimed victory over Barwell Junior School by a single goal.

1st Round:

Barwell Junior School 0 v 1 Burbage Junior School

St.Peters (Earl Shilton) 0 v 4 Richmond Primary School

 

The two winning teams from round one faced each other in round two, as Burbage met Richmond. There was plenty of good passing football on display from both sides to excite the crowd. Meanwhile, over on pitch two, St.Peters were defending in numbers against a strong Barwell team.

2nd Round:

Burbage Junior School 3 v 0 Richmond Primary School

Barwell Junior School 4 v 0 St.Peters (Earl Shilton)

 

With the third and final round about to begin, three teams were still in with a shout, but Burbage were only in need of a draw to claim the prize! Both matches kicked off together, Richmond took the lead against Barwell and were now looking to St.Peters to claim a win over Burbage. However, it was Burbage Junior School that claimed the victory and the place in the finals at Loughborough.

3rd Round:

Burbage Junior School 4 v 0 St.Peters (Earl Shilton)

Barwell Junior School 1 v 3 Richmond Primary School
